1st Bloxham Scout Group “Celebrating Our Successes” Bloxham Beavers participated in the nationwide Scout Association Community Impact campaign called “A Million Hands”.
Their project and research which took nine months to complete was submitted by the Beaver Leader (Natalie) to the Scout Association and in recognition of all their efforts we found out in February that the Beavers had won a prize of £100.

If you would like to find out more, please see the June 2016 article Bloxham Broadsheet online.

Also in February, Oxfordshire Scouts invited Leaders to apply to be Expedition Unit Leaders to Northern Norway. In Bloxham, we are very pleased to announce that Kate (Group Scout Leader and Cub Leader) was successful in her application and will be part of a team of leaders taking a group of 40 Scouts and Explorer Scouts, 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle, to the Norwegian island of Andoya in July 2018.

The very first weekend of April, 100 Scouts and Explorer Scouts from all over Oxfordshire arrived at Youlbury Scout Camp site for a selection camp for the Norway expedition. Over the weekend the young people were put to the test to see if they would be suitable Scouts to take on a camping expedition in the extremes. What fantastic news we received on the Monday evening after the selection camp. Two Bloxham Scouts (Kira and Kirsten) and one Bloxham Explorer Scout (Megan) have been selected to go on an epic trip of a lifetime.

In 2019 it will be the 24th World Scout Jamboree. It is to be hosted jointly between Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico and will take place at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA. On Sunday 30th April interviews were held to find Oxfordshire contingent Leaders. We are thrilled to reveal that Graham (Scout Leader) was successful and will be part of the leader team taking a group of Scouts and Explorer Scouts on the life changing experience of a World Jamboree. The young people will be selected in October and we will encourage all eligible Bloxham Scouts to apply.

By the time you read this Bloxham Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Leaders will have been to Blenheim Palace for OXONJAM our county camp. It is a Hollywood themed camp, with lots of action and adventure. There is so much going on over the weekend that we won’t have time to sleep! We will have also had our annual County Awards day. 1st Bloxham have nine young people collecting the highest awards they can achieve in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

It is lovely to be able to share with the village our successes and we look forward to being part of Bloxham Family Fun Day.
