Banbury and District Model Railway Club

DO YOU REMEMBER BLOXHAM RAILWAY STATION?
Banbury & District Model Railway Club has decided to build a model of Bloxham railway station and is interested to talk to anyone who has an interest, or who worked on, Bloxham station or in the quarry.
We have an Ordnance Survey map of the station as it was in 1933. Some of the books published in recent years about the Banbury & Cheltenham Railway have photos of all the railway buildings which has enabled us to make scale drawings of them.
The layout will be 18 feet long and 6 feet deep. It is to OO scale (Hornby/Bachmann size) and the club intend to run trains specific to the line – i.e., ironstone from Hook Norton, the famous Ports-to-Ports express and the general passenger and freight trains which serviced the station.
So, if possible we would like to talk to anyone who has first hand knowledge of the station and how it functioned or photographs and printed information we can copy. We have copies of the following books: The Banbury and Cheltenham Railway by Jim Russell, The Banbury & Cheltenham Railway by Hemmings and The Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway by Jenkins, Brown and Parkhouse.
Banbury & District Model Railway Club meet every Tuesday from 7 p.m. in the Old Cricket Club on the recreation ground off the Chipping Norton Road. If you can help, just call in one Tuesday or contact either
Chairman John Scales on 01295-250297 or Secretary Keith Bristow on 01295-252931.
