Bloxham Gardening Club – 16th July 2018

It was one of those perfect blue sky May weekends when God seemed to be smiling upon the earth, for Harry and Meghan’s wedding on the Saturday, and. . . our Plant Sale on the Sunday! It was a lovely day, the produce was top quality, and from the proceeds we were able to donate £150 to the Katharine House Hospice and lea over plants for sale at its Open Day on June 3rd. Thanks again to our members and sponsors, one and all, for their tremendous support and a brilliant result.

NOW, next on our exciting programme of events, are our summer GARDEN VISITS!

The first on Monday 23rd June to THE SPRING HOUSE, Upper Wardington. This has been described as a large garden of over three acres with wonderful trees and a bog garden, originally … designed by the renowned Kitty Lloyd Jones who did Upton House (just up the road from us) and other famous gardens such as Greys Court and Achamore House.

Our second visit is on Monday 16th July to ASCOTT GARDENS, near Whichford Pottery. This is a garden which grows and produces seasonal cut flowers, fruits, dried flowers and pottery. Basically it is a picking garden of three acres. Flowers, plants, vegetables, fruit etc are all available in season and no chemicals are used on any of the produce. In July there will be soa fruits such as boysenberries and fraise du Bois. The garden was featured a few years ago on BBC Gardeners World with Rachel de Thame.
The entrance fee is £10 which includes home made refreshments.

Visits start at 7pm.

Members usually arrange to travel together in cars either making their own way or “in convoy” leaving about a half hour before from outside the Elephant and Castle.

Please let Melanie Rayner know if you are coming, or for more information, 01295 721686/07818 062969/mel.a.rayner@gmail.com . All are welcome, members, friends etc.
