For the third consecutive year, on Christmas day 2018, members of the local community sat down together to enjoy a complimentary, home-cooked 3 course dinner.
This was thanks to the generosity and care of community- spirited residents of the area. The Bloxham Baptist Church once again generously provided the venue and much practical help besides.

The event, which was open to anyone who wished to eat with others in Bloxham on Christmas day, and which was attended by 45 people, was generously supported by donations from The Bloxham Feoffees, Bloxham and Milcombe Parish Councils, Bloxham WI and local residents and sponsors.

The organisers were once again struck by the generosity of community spirit which carried this event through to a successful conclusion on Christmas day. More than 90 people were involved in helping in some capacity over the months it took to plan,  including a core team of organisers, together with  shoppers, cooks, drivers, decorators, planners and set up and clearer- uppers who all came together, giving up their own family Christmas to make this one special for others. For some of them this was the third year they had devoted to the project. We were also extremely fortunate on this occasion to have the invaluable help of local chef Kurt Trinder and his family to produce the most fantastic meal on the day.

It was especially encouraging once again to have so many young people involved in serving, offering hospitality, taking drink orders, distributing the raffle prizes and clearing up afterwards.

There are too many people to record here who deserve special mention, but the organisers would particularly like to thank Gill Judd Cakes and China Hire who provided all the linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware, and dealt with all the washing of these items, and Allan Spencer Private Car Hire who generously donated a grand raffle prize of a chauffeured trip and cream tea for two to Fawsley Hall in Northants. There were also  many other generously donated prizes, ensuring everyone left with a gift as well as homemade Christmas cake and a doggy bag for anyone who wanted one.

We have had messages of thanks from guests and generous comments from others which have shown us how much this initiative is appreciated, and with the help of Team Christmas we very much look forward to providing another such occasion on Christmas day 2019.

Bee Myson and Pud Hawkins, Organisers.
