Community Christmas Lunch Photos – Dec 2017

Community Christmas Lunch in Bloxham
On Christmas day in Bloxham’s Baptist Chapel, 52 residents of the village and surrounding areas sat down together to enjoy a free Christmas lunch provided by members of the community.
Supported by a team of generous helpers, and building on the previous year’s successful event, Bee Myson and Pud Hawkins organised the meal so that anyone who wished to eat together in community on Christmas Day could do so.
It was funded by the Bloxham Feoffees and by donations from friends and neighbours.

Bee said ‘we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit in this community, which has meant we had plenty of help in putting on the meal; with funding the food, presents and decorations, and with all practical aspects from making decorations, to cooking turkeys and christmas cakes and puddings, or driving people to and from the Chapel.

Our kitchen team led by Vibeke Jackson were magnificent. We had wonderful musicians to accompany the carols and a gifted balloon sculptress to create bespoke balloon art for the guests.

The grand raffle was won by Jacqui and Ray Sayer, who are looking forward to a drive out to Fawsley Hall for tea with Allan Spencer, who generously donated the prize.’ Everyone left with a goody bag containing some Christmas cake, a raffle prize, a present and a doggy bag if they wished to have some food for later, but also with a sense of the hospitality of the local community, and a sharing of the Christmas spirit.

Bee and Pud very much hope to repeat the event in 2018.
