History Club Talk – 21st Nov 2018

Bloxham Village History Club

Wednesday 21 November, 7.30pm
Jubilee Park Hall (off Brickle Lane)
Our short AGM will be followed at 8.00pm by a talk:
Simon Batten:
“The History of Bloxham School: from the First World War to the Present Day”

Founded in 1860, Bloxham School (also known as All Saints School) grew out of the Oxford Movement within the Church of England in the nineteenth century.

Though responding to the needs of the modern world, that ethos is still in evidence today.

Simon Batten teaches history at Bloxham School and is the author of “Shining Light: 150 Years of Bloxham School”.

Following on from his talk in our last season taking the School’s story up to the First World War, Simon will explain how it has been influenced by, and responded to, changes in education and broader developments of the last hundred years.

All are very welcome.
Admission: free for members (£13 annual sub); £3.00 for visitors.
Call Ian Myson 01295 720951 for further information.

  1. Our local history club (u3a) would like to visit Bloxham next year 5th Sept morning visit. We would like visit your historic church and maybe a short walk through the village seeing buildings of interest. I wonder if there is a good soul in the village who would show us around on a short tour. I hope I am not being too cheeky leaving this request with you. Thank you for your kind assistance in this matter. Regards
