It is the story of Town and Gown in Oxford, that is, the history of the University and its relationship with the town. It was very acrimonious and at times physically dangerous. In the 17th century the Privy Council called it ‘a scandal,’ after receiving complaints about both sides. Chris Day is a noted lecturer and was formerly Chairman of the Oxfordshire Local history Association.<\/p>\n
Meetings take place on the third Wednesday of the month in the Jubilee Park Hall at 8.pm. followed by tea and coffee.
