{"id":39618,"date":"2016-05-31T10:37:42","date_gmt":"2016-05-31T09:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bloxham.info\/broadsheet\/?p=39618"},"modified":"2016-05-31T12:30:07","modified_gmt":"2016-05-31T11:30:07","slug":"39618-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bloxham.info\/broadsheet\/39618-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloxham School workshop &#8211; May 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12901\" src=\"http:\/\/bloxham.info\/broadsheet\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/bloxham_school_w.jpg\" alt=\"bloxham_school_w\" width=\"144\" height=\"66\" \/>BLOXHAM HOSTS AWARD WINNING AUTHOR WORKSHOP<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Award winning children\u2019s author, Elen Caldecott, delivered a fun and interactive creative writing workshop at Bloxham School on Saturday for visiting primary school children.<\/p>\n<p>The children learned how to develop the initial ideas for story writing; including elements such as characterisation, point of view and pace.\u00a0 Elen used examples from her own novels \u2018The Marsh Road Mysteries\u2019 and brought along images to inspire original writing. Each child left with their own piece of creative work.<\/p>\n<p>Bloxham\u2019s Head of English, Chris Saunders, said: \u201cWe were thrilled to welcome Elen to Bloxham. She was able to demonstrate a range of inspiring writing techniques and there was a real buzz during the workshop. The room was brimming with ideas and the children produced some impressive and original pieces of creative writing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elen Caldecott is a writer for children and young people, whose novels have been shortlisted for the Waterstones\u2019 Book Prize, the Red House Book Award and numerous regional awards. Her work was also selected by Julia Donaldson in a Guardian Best Books of the Year feature.
