To explain – there is a move afoot to gain independence from the rest of the UK and make Yorkshire a Republic! OK, maybe we could go it alone and we actually warmed to the idea, until the truth came out that a republic has to have a President and that it would be a certain croquet playing MP from Hull – so we left!
\nWhen we were about to leave, we were approached by the local do-gooders who told us they assumed we were taking on a missionary role in order to spread the word about ‘The Ridings’ and before this could be done, we must teach the natives the language.
