As I write the school is experiencing the first of eight collapsed timetable days.\u00a0 Students are scattered around the site and the county undertaking extended pieces of work in a different, more exciting , and relevant manner.\u00a0 I am about to dash off to\u00a0a performance of Gamelan music in the Hall; a mixture of drama, dance, music and art; all pulled together in the day.\u00a0 We firmly believe that this approach to learning allows us to be more creative in the delivery of the curriculum, thus engaging students more effectively and raising standards and outcomes for the young people. \u00a0Today students have been studying “pressure groups” in Citizenship and undertaking coursework in school and at the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Black Country Museum, Stratford and in Oxford. \u00a0Changes to the National Curriculum will require schools to respond in different ways to the delivery of subject content.
\nWe have\u00a0just received planning consent for the new farm buildings which will allow the contractors to start work on site this side of Christmas.\u00a0The buildings will support the development of rural education across the county and beyond.\u00a0In addition they will provide a wonderful new learning and teaching facility for those at The Warriner.\u00a0We will be exploring ways in which the possibilities of this building will offer that will enable us to engage further with the local community.
\n\u00a0During the course of next term we plan to start the consultation process that will see The Warriner adopt Trust Status.\u00a0The process will outline the purpose of this change and how we believe this will bring long term, sustainable and additional benefits to all involved with the school, and the community it serves.\u00a0This is associated with our drive for post-16 teaching on this site and this too will be the subject of a consultation process!
\nIn the October holiday a group of students from The Warriner will be visiting Stone Middle School in Washington DC. \u00a0This is a part of a long standing exchange programme that helps the students from the two schools see life in a different country and how different education systems operate in practice. \u00a0Our students come back realising the High Schools they see on US TV programmes are not necessarily typical of real US schools! \u00a0
