We are delighted to invite you to\u00a0our double-header of a school production, performed from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th\u00a0November 2019. Two one-act plays will be performed each evening: The Wardrobe<\/span><\/em> and Defectors<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

ACT ONE: THE WARDROBE by Sam\u00a0Holcroft<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>
\nOriginally\u00a0commissioned by\u00a0the\u00a0National Theatre Connections\u00a0Festival, The\u00a0Wardrobe<\/span><\/em>\u00a0is a\u00a0touching play that uses live music and ensemble movement and will\u00a0be entered for the National Student Drama Festival\u00a0competition.\u00a0It\u00a0will\u00a0be performed by\u00a0students from Third Form through to the Upper Sixth.<\/p>\n

Across seven centuries, small groups of children seek sanctuary in the same solid old wardrobe.\u00a0It\u2019s the safest place they know \u2013 but is it safe enough?\u00a0<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>A gripping journey through British history\u00a0exploring\u00a0how our country was shaped and how connected we are with our past.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

ACT TWO: DEFECTORS, written and\u00a0devised by Bloxham School<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/em>
\nThe second performance of the evening will come from our Sixth Form students, showcasing\u00a0an original production,\u00a0Defectors<\/span><\/em>, which will transfer to the Edinburgh Festival in August 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is 1984.\u00a0Tina Turner is blaring out across the school\u00a0bus as\u00a0a Sixth Form group set off on a trip, leaving\u00a0the comforts of West Germany to the contrasting reality of the communist East. When they arrive, they are faced with an unexpected and\u00a0monumental\u00a0decision<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>2019 commemorates the 30th<\/sup> Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and this true story, devised by the cast, will shock and excite as questions of morality and risk hang in the balance.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
