Chairman and Vice-Chairman 2026\/2027 <\/strong>\u2014 Councillor Alex Harrison has been\u00a0 appointed as Chairman of the Parish Council for 2026\/2027 and Councillor Joanna Barton has been\u00a0 appointed as Vice-Chairman for 2026\/2027.<\/p>\n

Hedges & Trees <\/strong>\u2014 Residents are kindly reminded that they need to ensure that any hedges\/ trees\/bushes on their land, do not encroach onto the roads or footpaths. There are examples of hedges\u00a0 which are covering the footpaths and footpath users are having to move into the road, which is clearly\u00a0 very unsafe.<\/p>\n

Elections <\/strong>\u2014 There was an uncontested Parish Council election on Thursday 7 May 2026 and ten\u00a0 Councillors were elected. Therefore, there are two vacancies on the Parish Council and if any residents\u00a0 are interested in standing as a Councillor and would like to join our friendly team, please contact the Clerk\u00a0 for more information.<\/p>\n

Draft Modified Bloxham Neighbourhood Plan <\/strong>\u2014 The Plan has been through the\u00a0 examination process and the Parish Council is now waiting for Cherwell District Council to advise on the\u00a0 next steps. There will be a village referendum in due course.<\/p>\n

Adult Gym Equipment <\/strong>\u2014 Quotes for adult gym equipment to be located at Jubilee Park are\u00a0 being investigated, including a new footpath to the site of the equipment.<\/p>\n

Health & Wellbeing Group <\/strong>\u2014 The project is now being led by Councillor Alex Harrison and he\u00a0 has engaged a number of village organisations who will also be joining the Group. These include\u00a0 Biodiversity Bloxham, St Mary\u2019s Church, Bloxham Holistic Collective and Bloxham Surgery.<\/p>\n

Parking on Double Yellow Lines <\/strong>\u2014 A number of drivers are parking their vehicles on the\u00a0 double yellow lines on Courtington Lane, therefore, Thames Valley Police will be asked to monitor the area\u00a0 and issue parking fines, if necessary.<\/p>\n

Traffic Calming <\/strong>\u2014 Councillors are continuing to work with County Councillor David Hingley in\u00a0 respect of traffic calming measures around the Primary School. The County Council will also be contacted\u00a0 about the long overdue replacement 20mph VAS\u2019. The Community Speed Watch Scheme will also be\u00a0 monitoring traffic speeds over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Planters <\/strong>\u2014 Biodiversity Bloxham are thanked for their work replanting the planters at the two\u00a0 entrances to the village.<\/p>\n

Flooding <\/strong>\u2014 Work is continuing to apply for grant funding from the County Council to introduce flood\u00a0 mitigation measures at The Slade. The planned works to the drain line under Bloxham School car park\u00a0 might be delayed because tenders for the works have come in over budget. There will be an update in due\u00a0 course.<\/p>\n

Church Flood Lights <\/strong>\u2014 The project to install new lights at the Church has been completed. The\u00a0 Council hopes that residents are pleased with the replacements.<\/p>\n

Sewage in Bloxham Brook <\/strong>\u2014 Environment Agency monitoring data shows that the Bloxham\u00a0 Wastewater Treatment Works discharged sewage into the Brook 71 times in 2024, totalling 1,124 hours,\u00a0 the equivalent of around 46 days. Thames Water has recently offered a guided tour of the Works and\u00a0 representatives from Bloxham and Adderbury will be attending, along with District Councillor Rob\u00a0 Pattenden.<\/p>\n
