\nThe decision followed the recommendation of CDC planning officers and was driven primarily by the Council’s current shortfall against its housing supply targets, rather than by any specific benefits the development might bring to Bloxham.
\nThe application was opposed by Bloxham Parish Council and by many residents who expressed their views through the CDC Planning Portal and by speaking at the Planning Committee meeting.
\nThe decision was also contrary to the emerging Bloxham Neighbourhood Plan<\/strong>, which the Parish Council has spent the past year developing, in consultation with residents across the village.
\nThe Neighbourhood Plan has now reached an advanced stage and is expected to be considered for approval by CDC’s Executive at its meeting on 16 June 2026. This will be the final step before a village-wide referendum, when all eligible residents will have the opportunity to vote on whether the Plan should be adopted.
\nIt is important that residents participate in the referendum<\/strong>. Once adopted, the Neighbourhood Plan will become part of the statutory planning framework and will help guide future development, ensuring that growth takes place in locations that are appropriate for the village and supported by local planning policies.
\nBloxham continues to face development pressure. Most notably, David Wilson Homes has submitted an application for up to 95 homes on land off South Newington Road, adjacent to the David Tyrrell Recreation Ground (Application No. 25\/02895\/OUT).
\nBloxham Parish Council has formally objected to this proposal.
