Weds 14 ‘What is Biodiversity?’ Talk 7-9pm, Bloxham Mill, Barford Road
With biologist and author, Colin Tudge. We’re particularly excited to have bagged Colin Tudge, biologist , writer and broadcaster, ex of New Scientist and BBC Radio 3; co-founder of the Oxford Real Farming Conference; and author on various aspects of natural history (including The Variety of Life, The Secret Life of Trees, and The Secret Life of Birds); on conservation (including Last Animals at the Zoo); on evolution (including The Day Before Yesterday); and several on food and farming. His latest book – The Great Re-Think : a 21st century renaissance explores the need for a people-led global Renaissance to pull the world back from the brink and will be subject of his talk. The Economics of Happiness 2011, 68 mins. While governments and big business continue to promote globalisation and the consolidation of corporate power, people worldwide are resisting these policies. The documentary explores the communities coming together to rebuild economies on a more human scale, based on ecology and localisation.
