Recreation, in terms of both sport and leisure are an important part of village life, from playgrounds where parents and children can meet and play, to sports such as football, swimming, badminton and tennis. We need to maximise opportunities for all to become engaged in these. Many of our facilities pre-date the recent expansion of the village and we need to have a plan as to where we might locate, and how we can improve, facilities.
As a group our first task has been to identify, map and investigate the recreation facilities situated within Bloxham including, sports pitches, playgrounds, clubs & societies, village halls and community spaces so we have a definitive list of facilities (both paid and free) that residents can use.
Next we move on to analysing which facilities can be improved upon, perhaps relocated and whether there are facilities we are totally lacking.
Around November we will show you the information we have collated and you will have an opportunity to give us your views and priorities for improvements, should funds become available. Keep an eye open for this event.
Although formulating priorities for the future is the main objective a spin-off is that we will be able to provide collated information about existing facilities both online and in print so residents can all be aware of all the recreational facilities the village has to offer.
What can you do?
If you are a club or society leader/organiser tell us about your activities.
If you have sports resources (like a cricket pitch!) that you might be prepared to negotiate for a responsible resident group to use please tell us.
If you are a landowner with land you would consider being used for recreational facilities then tell us
Please engage with our Neighbourhood Plan.
