The moon doesn’t rotate around the Earth in a perfect circle. It has an average distance from Earth of 238,000 miles (382,900 km) but sometimes it’s closer than others and at the moment its around 356,907 kilometers – which makes it look bigger and brighter.  This is known as a supermoon.

Last night was quite cloudy but the photo below – taken around 4.30 am in Bloxham – shows the supermoon blazing out over the village and producing some ghostly looking clouds.
