In October we hosted a Group Meeting for 3 local WI’s. This was an opportunity to socialise and exchange ideas whilst enjoying a talk, lovely refreshments and taking part in a competition usually based around the speaker’s topic. Our speaker was Helen Plumb, a gemmologist from Winchcombe where she has a shop selling jewellery made from the varied gemstones she sources from around the world. Helen gave a fascinating insight into her career and descriptions of some more unusual gemstones. We had the opportunity to have some of our own jewellery assessed and the stones identified alas no Cullinan diamond!

At November’s meeting we had a talk on Mercy Ships and our December meeting will be based around Christmas with various activities to enjoy as well as mulled wine and mince pies.

We have our Annual Dinner in January and also an informal afternoon meeting on January 21st. Some of the members will be going to Oxford to see The Sound of Music performed by OXOPS also in January.

We meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the Jubilee Park Hall.
