Bloxham W.I. – Jul 2025

The WI as a national organisation raises awareness of issues of national importance and public interest and, although non-political, has been instrumental in helping to create new legislation through the annual resolution process.

This year the resolution is “Bystanders can be life savers” which hopes to encourage an increase in the training of CPR and the use of defibrillators. Bloxham WI voted for this resolution and in June at the National Annual Meeting the resolution will be debated and a final vote taken. This Annual Meeting will be live streamed and members from Bloxham WI and other local WIs will be watching the event at Banbury Rugby Club thanks to a co-operation between the WI and England Rugby Union who have agreed to make their facilities available to WIs. This will also be an opportunity for local WIs to exchange ideas of speakers and activities whilst enjoying social time together.
We enjoyed another group meeting at Shutford when we heard a talk about filming at Broughton Castle which has been used in many TV and film dramas over the last few decades.
We will have our Annual Aunt Sally evening at the Elephant and Castle in July.
There is no monthly meeting in August but we will have an outing to visit behind the scenes at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre followed by a meal.
We hope our varied programme of events caters for most interests and we welcome visitors to our meetings which are held in the Jubilee Park Hall at 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of the month.
