As we move through this term at Bloxham Church of England Primary School, our whole school community is focusing on one of our core values: Ambition. This theme runs through our collective worship and sits closely alongside our PSHE learning, where pupils are exploring dreams and hopes for themselves and for the future.

At Bloxham, ambition is not about competition or comparison with others. Instead, it is about aiming high, persevering when learning feels challenging. and believing that effort leads to growth. This understanding of ambition is rooted in our Christian vision to “Encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11), reminding us that ambition flourishes best within a caring and supportive community.

Our PSHE theme this term is Dreams and Goals. what would our pupils like to achieve, what kind of person they want to become, and how they can take positive steps towards their goals. For our youngest children, this might mean learning to keep trying when something feels tricky or finding the confidence to share an idea. För older pupils, it may involve setting personal goals, recognising strengths, and understanding that mistakes are a natural and valuable part of learning.

This focus on ambition, dreams and hopes is especially important as children grow up in a world that is constantly changing. By helping pupils to develop resilience, optimism and a sense of purpose, we are equipping them with the confidence to approach new experiences positively and thoughtfully. Our aim is to help children understand that, while they may not always know what lies ahead, they can develop the skills, attitudes and values that will support them throughout their lives.

Across the school, pupils are also leaning that ambition does not look the same for everyone. Sometimes it is the quiet determination to keep practising. the courage to ask for help, or the kindness shown when supporting others. These everyday acts of ambition are just as important as more visible achievements.

We are proud of the ambition our pupils demonstrate each day and grateful for the continued support of families and the wider village community in helping our children grow with confidence, hope and belief in themselves.
