Consultation on Warriner Expansion – 13th Dec 2016

Oxfordshire County Council have initiated a consultation about the principle of expanding The Warriner School.
The initial proposal is supported by both the Oxfordshire County Council and the School Governors.

It is NOT about any decisions to allocate housing development to the area made by Cherwell District Council.
It is not about ther nature or design of the buildings: this will be the subject of a separate Cherwell DC consultation.
It IS about increasing the Published Admission Number (PAN) stepwise from the current 228 to 256 in September 2017 and 284 in September 2019

  •  This consultation is taking place until 13 December 2016. You have until midnight on that date to respond.
  • The next step, after consideration of consultation responses, would be for a final decision on expansion to be confirmed by the Regional Schools Commissioner (Department for Education).

Like Bloxham Primary School  the Warriner  has a significant number of “out of catchment” children in the upper years but progressively fewer in the lower years as local pupils take priority with the growing numbers created by ongoing local housing development.  This ongoing development within and around Bloxham means that there will undoubtedly be a need for more places  and so additional teaching accommodation; classrooms and associated spaces WILL be needed.
There does, of course, need to be clarity about the fact that agreeing that there is an ‘in principle need for expansion’   in no way offers carte blanche to do this in a way that negatively impacts the village.
Such expansion will need to comply with the local planning policies  – including the Bloxham Neighbourhood Plan – and VERY IMPORTANTLY any such development should actively mitigate any additional traffic and parking issues around Bloxham Grove Road,  Crabtree Close and Chipperfield Park Rd and beyond.
