I was greatly saddened to learn of Doug Todd’s passing on New Year’s Day. I have known Doug and counted him as a friend since I was first elected as County Councillor for Bloxham. Doug was Chairman of the Conservative Branch in Bloxham for a long time and a great supporter.
It was a few years ago now. but I have a very clear recollection of Doug running from house to house in Courtington Lane – his own road – as we knocked on doors to ask for support in the elections!
Doug and Joan were both teachers; I know they always enjoyed their work and had many friends among colleagues, parents and pupils they had taught. I also know they greatly enjoyed their retirement years with regular trips around the world. Doug was a stalwart in his interests whether it was political, the British Legion or his service to the church which, I know, was very important to him.
I know Joan will miss Doug hugely. They were always inseparable and shared so much that bound them together. I hope the years of happiness and companionship they so clearly enjoyed will stand her in good stead for the future.
