“ONE LIFE”

“One Life” (2023) tells the true-life story of how a team of determined and  brave individuals organised the escape of thousands of refugees – almost  certainly facing death at the hands of the Nazis – from Czechoslovakia in 1938/39.
It focuses on Nicholas Winton, (subsequently famous for his role in the  evacuation of mainly Jewish children) and colleagues – one of whom, Doreen  Warriner, led the operation, in Prague.
She was part of the family – long-time occupants of Bloxham Grove Farm – whose name was adopted by the Warriner  School, Bloxham.
She is buried in St Mary’s churchyard, and is one of the most  significant figures in the history of British twentieth century humanitarian relief.
We’ll provide some brief context to the film, as well as also showing some short clips of real-life scenes depicted in the film. There will be some time for  Q&A/discussion.
