My hobby really began when I was about six and started making paper dolls and designing outfits for them. Many years later as a result of my first trip abroad, to Brittany, my interest in paper changed to making up my first scrapbook. I returned with guidebooks, leaflets, postcards, hotel and restaurant bills and together with my daily diary my first holiday scrapbook was born. Since that time I have created a book on my return from every interesting holiday -from the eastern delights of Malaysia, to the mind-bending traffic of Delhi, to the tranquil houseboat on that earthly paradise, Dal Lake in Kashmir. In Europe a memorable Semana Santa (Holy week) is recorded in Seville in contrast to an icebound, but beautiful, Prague and my favourite cities of Venice and Paris.
My books of memories now provide interesting price changes (£37 for a tour of Italy in the 50s!) and also enable me to make return visits when I am sitting beside a rain-lashed window simply by flicking a page and when I close the book at the end of the journey I do not have to battle with Terminal 5 or similar, I just lean back and plan my next tour.
