If you have been following the debate about whether the NHS considers Bloxham to be urban or rural, I am delighted to advise you that the NHS Litigation Authority has now decided that Bloxham should continue to be designated as “RURAL”. As a consequence, Dr Martin Harris will be able to continue to dispense medicines to his patients on his premises. If Bloxham had been re-categorised as “URBAN”, all Bloxham patients would have had to travel into Banbury to collect their medicines.
Common sense has prevailed for once!
We owe a debt of gratitude to Tony Baldry MP who gave compelling evidence to the tribunal that considered the appeal.
Keith R Mitchell CBE,
County Councillor for Bloxham Division
The decision
The Committee determined thai Bloxham is rural (controlled locality). The Committee allowed the appeal by Drs; Harris, Edwards and Hurst of the Surgery, Godswell Lane, Church Street, Bloxham.
J Jackson, (Appeal Officer )
Thanks
Everyone at Bloxham Surgery would like to thank all those people who wrote in to support the successful appeal against the classification of Bloxham as an urban environment. This means that the Surgery can continue to issue prescriptions for all the patients in Bloxham who are registered at the Surgery.
We would also like to thank Tony Baldry for his excellent support and eloquent defence of our appeal.
Drs Harris, Edwards and Hurst
