Just to the right of this picture there used to be a cast iron water pump. As a lad I tried to see what happens when you stuck your tongue on a frozen metal object. Yes indeed, the tongue does stick, and only comes off minus some skin!
Opposite was the old primary school, which had the remains of gas light fittings on the walls, and bottles of free school milk left outside for the sparrows to peck at!
