Memory Lane – Godswell House

Judging by reader’s responses there is still plenty of appetite for ‘Memory Lane’ pictures – so here’s another.

Those new to the village will know Godswell House as an up-market care home but during it’s lifetime it’s had many uses ranging from one of the two  village manor houses to an education unit for ‘disengaged pupils.’

Does anyone remember when it looked like this?

It was a children’s home in 1977, I lived in the old grain store on site, my ex husband was the deputy superintendent

  2. Yes. We loved there when it was an old people’s home in the 1960/70
My grandparents and parents both ran it
My dad did the bonfire nights

      Hi Zoe,

Did your parents or Grandparents discover any tunnels while at Godswell?

I am in a group (B.U.T.S.) who are exploring tunnels in Bloxham. We have recently been on all social media with our recent discoveries.

I remember going up there for fireworks and the most enormous bonfire on “Bonfire Night”back in the late 60’s early 70’s
