Yesterday (26th Jan 2016) we published information that appeared on the BloxFest website. In short, it explained why BloxFest will be “taking a break” for 2016 but will hopefully re-launch in 2017 after checking out with residents what form the event should take.
Since initially making this post a fuller announcement has been issued from the BloxFest Committee and this now appears below.
Six years ago the first Bloxham May Festival, Bloxfest, was held and over the years it has grown considerably in size and popularity. For some time too, the team have been discussing the need
for regular reviews of the festival activities to ensure that Bloxfest remains a lively local festival that caters for all Bloxhamites. This year, as some of our stalwart team members have decided
that it is time for them to retire and ‘pass on the baton’, the committee has decided to seize the opportunity to rest the May festival for 2016 (although a smaller event may be possible:
watch for posters!) and to work towards a bumper May Festival in 2017. In addition, Apple Day will be extended this year and other festival events will take place, with which we hope new
members and volunteers will become involved. Many of the Bloxfest members and other helpers have been with Bloxfest from the start and they would be pleased for new helpers to join them.
The Bloxfest team therefore extends a warm welcome to all Bloxham residents to join us for refreshments on a date TBA in April in the Parish Rooms (by the Museum). Questions and views on Bloxfest will be most welcome, as will all offers of help!
The Bloxfest committee would also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the resigning members for their years of dedicated support and effort towards Bloxfest, and the good times
that we have shared!
BloxfBloxfest is a not-for-profit social enterprise that was formed by a small group of residents in 2009, who felt that our rapidly expanding village needed an annual event to provide a focus for
the whole village community to be able to come together in an enjoyable way. The festival’s remit is to ”promote and celebrate the community of Bloxham by holding an annual village festival.”
