The outline application from Gladman Developers for yet more houses to be built in the village brought Bloxham residents crowding into St Mary’s Church on 23rd July to express their concerns about this latest proposal. It is clear that the village infrastructure is currently unable to cope with the influx of new housing – schools are fully subscribed, electricity and water supply are giving problems, and the A361 through Bloxham becomes ever more dangerous and overcrowded.
Concern was also expressed over road hazards on the sharp bend on the Barford Road, and a resident pointed out that there were far more accidents on that road than were claimed by Gladman. The land in question is also very boggy and liable to flooding, while the density of housing was considered unacceptable.
Councillors present urged everyone who felt concern about the proposal to write or email to the Planning Department of CDC and to the members of the Planning Committee, and it is understood that more than 200 letters or emails of objection have so far been received at Bodicote House.
