…. and so, as we approach the end of another year can we say thankyou to all our readers both of the Bloxham Broadsheet Online website and its associated FaceBook page.
Webiste usage was down slightly but at typically well over over 1000 page views per week it seems to remain a useful vehicle of communication of village events.
In contrast FaceBook page usage climbs week on week: the page currently has 955 regular followers. (It would be really good to break through the 1000 barrier so if you check out the page but haven’t become a follower – how about doing that now?)
Although we work with the paper Broadsheet sharing information and articles the online presence is run by totally different people and to an extent serves a different audience. Also, unlike the paper Broadsheet we don’t have the challenge of the long ‘lead-time’ associated with printing and distribution and so are aware of our usefulness in “filling a gap” in alerting residents to events that occur without the luxury of a long period of notice!
Running a website incurs costs but we receive no funding from any source – either from grants or advertising. We self-fund the site to provide this service purely and simply to serve the village and – so long as people are clearly making use of it – we’ll try and continue with this.
So:
- Use it or lose it.
- Thanks for looking and have a very Happy Christmas!
John Groves
