The Village Co-ordinator

For some years Bloxham has had a village co-ordinator whose function is to endeavour to avoid ‘the clash of “competing” events open to the public’. Of course she cannot do this if those organising such events do not keep her informed. With a fair-sized town like Banbury it is almost inevitable that there will be many such clashes, and with very small villages like, for example, the Barfords there will be far fewer, and in any case most people will learn of them by the bush telegraph. In the first case it is not practicable and in the second it is unnecessary to have a co-ordinator. Bloxham lies in between, and such clashes have taken place time and again because people do not inform the co-ordinator before finalising their dates. A few years ago, the Parish Council, and the Parochial Church Council managed to arrange their annual meetings on the same evening.
Our village co-ordinator is, at present, Jean Phillips (tel: 720934). Would all those good people who take the trouble to arrange public events please always inform her before fixing a date to find out whether an event has already been arranged for the date they propose?

  1. When planning an event it’s worth taking a look at the online calendar on this website which has on it all the events that I get to hear of.
