Bloxham Feoffees currently consist of 13 persons and a clerk to the feoffees.

Feoffees are trustees who hold an estate comprising of land and property that is freehold for charitable purposes.

Feoffees have been around since William the Conqueror invaded Britain in 1066.

On 20th January 1602 a decree was made under a commission of charitable uses in Banbury, and dated that the following land, property, and sums of money should be given for the aid, ease and benefit to the inhabitants of Bloxham. This would be put in trust that was managed by the feoffees.

The Feoffees are custodians of the wooden fire engine built in the 1700’s.

We receive rent for the Court House and lease out land to the Warriner School and to a local farmer.

The main purpose of the Feoffees is to help the poor, the aged, the needy and people that are of ill health.

We give out small grants locally to many young people who need help with their education and for community work.

We give an annual sum to St. Marys Church Bloxham and have recently helped with the Church project by making a substantial donation to the Friends of St. Mary’s.

To become a Feoffee is by invitation only and that is usually to someone who has lived in the village for some time or was born in the village with family connections.
