Biodiversity Bloxham Successful in National Lottery Bid for Children and Adult wellbeing Nature based sessions
Biodiversity Bloxham are pleased to announce that they have teamed up with The Warriner School Farm to restart the Wild About Bloxham initiative which offered monthly sessions for children who live in the village.

The Wild About Bloxham Sessions which ran in 2022 and 2023 were a big hit with children in the village but due to a lack of volunteer time they did not run in 2024. Following an application to The National Lottery’s Community Grant we have successfully secured funds to provide a programme for 2 years.

Each session covers a seasonal theme, such as Bats in October, Willow in November, Christmas for December or Mammals in March. They will be run by two fully qualified Forest school leaders who are passionate about connecting children with nature and their local area and who both live within the village themselves. Each Session will be for up to 15 children.

In addition to the sessions for children, we also applied for funding to include sessions for adults. These will follow a similar seasonal theme but with rustic activities designed to give adults a taste of a new nature based craft or opportunity for connection with the local area. These will vary from Weaving with Willow or brambles, Autumnal foraging walks, rustic wreaths at Christmas, Bird watching, or an evening stroll on the summer solstice. Communing round a campfire and enjoying each other’s company is a key focus of these sessions, designed to build community and wellbeing.
