Draft Modified Bloxham Neighbourhood Plan – The Plan has now been approved by Cherwell District Council and there will be a village referendum on Thursday 27 August 2026. If there is a positive result, then the Plan will form part of the policies available to help stop speculative development in Bloxham. Postal and proxy voting will be available to those unable to vote in person.
More details can be found on the Parish Council’s website. The Parish Council is unable to steer residents to vote either way in the Referendum and cannot offer opinions or have discussions during the lead up to the Referendum, but it can provide factual information about the Plan. If residents have any questions, or points of clarification, they should email the Parish Council.
Planning Application for 95 House- Planning application 25/02895/OUT for up to 95 dwellings on land adjoining and west of Bloxham Recreation Ground, South Newington Road, Bloxham was refused by Cherwell District Council’s Planning Committee. The Parish Council thanks District Councillors Rob Pattenden and David Hingley for their support and speaking at the Planning Committee meeting. The Committee refused the application due to the advanced stage of the new Neighbourhood Plan and the weight it now carried in respect of planning policy.
Sewage in Bloxham Brook – Representatives from Bloxham and Adderbury Parish Councils attend a tour of the Thames Water Treatment Works on 29 July 2026, along with District Councillor Rob Pattenden.
If residents notice anything unusual along the Brook, such as smells, toilet paper, grey water or discolouration, please report it directly to the Environment Agency Incident Hotline: 0800 80 70 60 or the Thames Water Emergency Line: 0800 316 9800.
Health & Wellbeing Working Group – The Group met again on 7 August 2026 and support is being sought from Community First Oxfordshire. A further update will be provided next month.
Highways Issues – If residents have any issues with the roads and footpaths in Bloxham, please report them to the County Council’s Fix My Street website. If there is no action after a month, please email the Parish Council with the relevant details and reference number and this will be followed up with the County Council.
Traffic Calming Working Group – Details of the continuing work of the Group is available on the PC website, which includes a review of the 20mph speed restrictions, clarification of Section 106 funds available to Bloxham for highways works, tackling pavement parking and the Community Speed Watch Scheme.
Carl Wright – The Parish Council passes its condolences to the family and friends of Carl Wright, formerly of The Hawk and Partridge PH, who passed away recently.
Christmas Lights – A meeting will be held with the Parish Council’s contractor to review the current lights and further lights might be added for Christmas 2026.
Hedges & Trees – Residents are kindly reminded that they need to ensure that any hedges/trees/bushes on their land, do not encroach over their boundary and onto the roads or footpaths. There are examples of hedges which are covering the footpaths and footpath users are having to move into the road, which is clearly very unsafe.
Please note that it is currently nesting season, so any major works should be undertaken from 1 September 2026.
Flooding Working Group – Grant funding for Natural Flood Management at The Slade should be received shortly from the County Council and Councillor Neil Hegarty will be coordinating the necessary works to install the leaky dams, which will hold back water in The Slade should there been another major flooding event.
The planned works to the drain line under Bloxham School car park on Courtington Lane/Workhouse Lane have been paused and alternative solutions are being investigated, with the County Council and Cherwell District Council.
CPR & Defibrillator Courses – Further CPR & defibs courses, funded by the Parish Council and facilitated by volunteers from South Central Ambulance Charity will be held later in the year. Please email Alex Harrison for more details: alexander.harrison@sca-charity.org.uk
