Draft Modified Bloxham Neighbourhood Plan

The Plan has now been approved by  Cherwell District Council and there will be a village referendum on Thursday 27 August 2026. If there is  a positive result, then the Plan will form part of the policies available to help stop speculative  development in Bloxham. Postal and proxy voting will be available to those unable to vote in person. More details will follow in due course.

Planning Application for 95 Houses

-Planning application 25/02895/OUT for up to 95  dwellings on land adjoining and west of Bloxham Recreation Ground, South Newington Road, Bloxham will  be considered by Cherwell District Council’s Planning Committee on 23 July 2026. The Parish Council has already objected to this application. Please email any comments on the application to:  planning@cherwell-dc.gov.uk

Sewage in Bloxham Brook

Representatives from Bloxham and Adderbury Parish Councils will be attending a tour of the Thames Water Treatment Works on 29 July 2026 , along with District  Councillor Rob Pattenden.  If residents notice anything unusual along the Brook, such as smells, toilet paper, grey water or  discolouration, please report it directly to the Environment Agency Incident Hotline: 0800 80 70 60 or  the Thames Water Emergency Line: 0800 316 9800

Health & Wellbeing Working Group

The Group has met on two occasions in the last month and has set its aims and objectives. One of its key objectives will be to address loneliness and isolation for older people. The Group will also be collecting information on existing village groups and how they could work together and promote the work of the Wellbeing Group, for the benefit of the whole community.

Traffic Calming Working Group

The new 20mph VAS’ have been erected in the village and an additional VAS will be erected on the A361 between the end of Strawberry Terrace and the junction for Courtington Lane. The Community Speed Watch Team will be participating in the National  Speed Watch Day on 17 July 2026. The availability of Section 106 funds at the County Council will also  be investigated.

Christmas Tree Festival

Council will be participating in the St Mary’s Church Christmas Tree Festival again this year. Councillors Amanda Baxter and Joanna Barton will be dressing the tree.

Social Media — The Parish Council will be setting up new Facebook and Instagram accounts so please keep an eye out for when these come online.

Hedges & Trees

Residents are kindly reminded that they need to ensure that any hedges/ trees/bushes on their land, do not encroach over their boundary and onto the roads or footpaths. There are examples of hedges which are covering the footpaths and footpath users are having to move into the road, which is clearly very unsafe. Please note that it is currently nesting season, so any major works should be undertaken from 1 September 2026.

Flooding Working Group

Grant funding for Natural Flood Management at The Slade has been approved by the County Council and Councillor Neil Hegarty will be progressing the necessary works. If there are any volunteers in the village who are trained to use a chainsaw and would like to assist with this  project, please contact the Clerk: clerk@bloxhamparishcouncil.gov.uk

The planned works to the drain line under Bloxham School car park on Courtington Lane / Workhouse Lane have been paused by the County Council because officers feel the works could increase flooding in other areas of the village. The Parish Council and residents are very unhappy with the assessment and do not agree. Therefore, a meeting will be held with officers from the County Council and Cherwell District Council at the earliest opportunity. County Councillor David Hingley will also be escalating the matter to  senior officers and Councillors at the County Council.

CPR & Defib Course

A CPR & defib course, funded by the Parish Council and facilitated by volunteers from South Central Ambulance Charity is being held on 15 July 2026, at Jubilee Hall from 7pm  to 9pm. Please email Alex Harrison if you would like to attend. alexander.harrison@sca-charity.org.uk
