Bloxham Pre-School is looking for people who are prepared to join our volunteer management committee to help govern a very well respected community resource.
Bloxham Pre-School delivers the early years’ curriculum and care to over 60 children preparing them for primary school. It started in a typical fashion with mothers in the village 42 years ago looking to have a community resource to care for their children pre-school and has now grown into a business with charitable status employing 11 staff turning over approximately £80k with its own website. All of the staff are mothers as well as being fully trained in a professional capacity and many of them have been at pre-school working for Debbie Davies, the Pre-School Supervisor for over ten years. It is a stable, solid and much sought after resource.
The pre-school has a strong local identity as a community service and is well supported by parents and local businesses to both fund raise and provide practical help. Unknown to many, the Pre-School is independent from Bloxham Primary School. It is a business with charitable status and like many pre-schools in the country, the management structure is a volunteer management committee staffed by parents who are voted in annually. The management committee takes responsibility for the organisation and is supported by a part time administrator who, along with the Pre-School Supervisor, professionally manages the majority of the day to day running. The committee also annually orchestrates at least four fund raising events generating approximately £1500 as well as bringing children and parents together. The preschool runs extremely well and at this point, we are looking to open our management committee by having four members of the committee who are prepared to remain in post for up to four years. Ideally, these are individuals who have some business or academic experience and are looking to offer some of their time to help us develop our future strategy to continue to deliver excellent provision to our children.
