We enjoyed the Italian desserts demonstrated by Mariella Bliss at our last meeting. She also covered some of the traditions associated with the foods and ingredients demonstrated.
The 170 poppies knitted or crocheted by members were sent off to the Standing With Giants organisation where they will be used with others to refresh the sculptures before they go off to Normandy.
Our April 8th meeting includes a talk by Stephen Barker on “Women in the First World War”. We join other local WIs later in April for a Group Meeting in Hornton, the speaker will be the NFWI chair, Jeryl Stone. This will be an opportunity to hear her views on the future development of the WI.
There will be no Friday coffee morning on April 24th due to electrical work being carried out in the Ex-Servicemen’s Hall. We welcome anyone to come to these coffee mornings where the money raised from selling coffee and home made biscuits goes towards our chosen annual charity.
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the Jubilee Park Hall. More details about our meetings can be obtained from Sue Myburgh
