The Landlord of the Elephant and Castle for 37 years died recently at his home in Kings Road after a short battle with leukaemia. Chas was a generous person and worked very hard both in the pub and for his charities. He was very welcoming and a friend to all. Youngsters and adults alike turned to him for much valued advice and help, but touch his fire in the lounge bar and you would get a thorough telling off! A quote from the Headmaster at Bloxham School sums him up well… “Chas was very much an institution here in the village and he will be sorely missed. It’s like a piece has been taken out of the Bloxham jigsaw”.
The name continues, as Chas Finch’s son Simon has taken over the licence of the Elephant & Castle.
