You may think you do, but it is known that there are more than one million pensioners who do not. They are entitled to benefits running into £millions but do not get them because they are not aware of what is available or what to do to get it.
Did you know that with Pension Credit every pensioner is entitled to a minimum payment of £124.05 per week (£189.35 for a couple) plus an additional payment of up to £19.71 (£26.13for a couple) to some of those over 65 who have saved?
In addition they could get Council Tax Benefit of up to 100% of the amount charged irrespective of whether the property is owned or rented.
Housing Benefit of up to 100% of the rent charged is also available whether the property is rented privately or through the Council or Housing Association.
Did you know that you could be paid an Attendance Allowance of up to £67 per week if you are disabled in any way and need help with your personal care throughout the day or night? This allowance is Tax Free and is not affected by your income or savings or any other benefits. It is paid entirely according to your needs and may be spent by you as you wish.
Do you spend at least 35 hours a week caring for a person who receives this Attendance Allowance? If so you could qualify for a Carers Allowance which is worth £50.52 per week to you. These benefits are not charity, they are your rights. If you feel you may qualify for any of these Benefits, AGE CONCERN OXFORDSHIRE will arrange for their Adviser to call and explain your particular entitlements; more importantly he/she will help you with filling in any forms. This service is free, strictly confidential, and carried out in your own home. Why not call us and make sure you are not missing out on what is yours by right.
Your local Age Concern Field Adviser is: Bill Raddings.
