There are covid-related changes to the programme already posted on this site here
Due to concerns by St Mary’s Parochial Church Council over the number of people who usually attend the church service on Remembrance Sunday, and the likelihood of the spread of Covid19, it has been decided to amend the traditional format for this year by abandoning the service inside of the church.
For this year the assembly of the RBL members and uniformed youth groups at the War Memorial will take place, as usual, at 10.30am.The outside service will also follow the usual format up to the point where it would normally march up to the church.
From this point, the outside service will continue with an address by the Reverend Duncan Weaver, Bloxham School Chaplin, and conclude with singing with the National Anthem.
At the conclusion of the anthem the groups will assemble in the roadway from a point local to the junction of Merryvales Lane and the High Street, and parade down the hill to Humber street and on the the Elephant and Castle as normal.
As there will be no service in the church there is no need for the rehearsal for the standards to take place on Saturday 13th, as advertised in the current edition of the Bloxham Broadsheet. However, someone will be at the church just in case these amendments have not reached all those concerned.
Please Note: The rehearsal for the young people who will be reading the names on the War Memorial, and the parade marshals, will take place as previously arranged.
As we do not have the contact addresses for every group concerned with the parade, such as the Brownies, we would be obliged if you could pass this information on to them if you have their contact details.
We trust that the weather on the day will permit the service and parade to take place, but if we are unlucky, we will have no alternative but to cancel the whole event.
We trust that these changes will ease any concerns of parents about letting their children take part in the service in the enclosed space of the church.
