Odds & Ends

Poem – still raining!

It rained in May and it rained in June,
It’s raining still and it’s autumn soon.
It’s supposed to be summer, but look at the sky;
Full of black rain clouds, why, oh why?
There’s a break in the clouds – a burst of sunlight And rainbow colours, so dazzling bright, Turn raindrops to diamonds, along my clothes line, They sparkle with fire; that no gem can outshine.
From red through green to a brilliant blue
They flash through every spectrum hue,
A beautiful sight; nature’s gift and it’s free
That glittering necklace is there just for me. _
Some chirping sparrows come flying along, Rain-dance on the line and the moment has gone. Such ephemeral magic! But perhaps there’s a chance Of those birds returning, to perform a sun-dance.
