St Mary’s “Building our Future” project: it’s looking amazing…now let’s finish the job!

The Bloxham village community has got behind the Building our Future project – providing much-needed new facilities and adaptations to the historic church of St Mary’s. Many thanks! The curved screens are a fantastic new feature – but this involved going to court to challenge the Victorian Society who felt they should be straight. Thankfully the court case (which we won) didn’t cost us a great deal since we represented ourselves – but it added six months of time and had other knock-on effects!
St Mary’s has long been a cornerstone of our community, a place where people gather for worship, important life events and social activities. With the West End improvements, this beloved building is now better equipped than ever to meet the needs of Bloxham’s rapidly growing population.

The new kitchen allows church and community groups to carry out a much greater range of events.  The works have delivered essential improvements, including a terrific kitchen, WCs, a central performance platform, a choir room, and additional storage-all seamlessly integrated behind the beautiful curved oak screens. These changes have transformed the space, making it more versatile and welcoming for both church services and community events. Whether it’s hosting musical performances, serving Sunday afternoon teas or delivering guided tours with refreshments, the new facilities are already proving their worth.
