Our beautiful Grade I listed church is over l000 years old, at least parts of it where the choir sings, and the majority of the building is l3th and l4th century. It is there for all: christenings, weddings, funerals, services and all sorts of functions. It costs a lot of money to run and to keep in a good state of repair. We have a wonderful organisation called the ‘Friends of St Mary’s’ which has raised a large sum over the past ten years for necessary repairs to the spire and the windows, and it continues to do so, every month, for the next major project.
Bloxham Parish Council has had the floodlights re-vamped and new energy-efficient bulbs installed at all levels thanks to the sterling work of our Bloxham electrician, David Andrews in an enormous rainstorm. The tower and the spire are lit to show up beautifully at night.
A sponsorship idea was launched to raise much needed funds by remembering a loved one’s anniversary of their passing, or a birthday, or perhaps your wedding day anniversary. The usual donation is £l0 and you will be surprised at the comfort one gets on ‘your day’, and the knowledge of the help you are giving.
